Privacy Policy

Episode is built and operated by Numan Mumtaz, a sole indie developer. This policy explains what data Episode collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions go to numan@getepisode.app.

What Episode collects

  • Account info: the email address and display name you provide when signing up.
  • Tracking data: the shows and episodes you mark as watched, your ratings, lists, watchlist, and watch streak.
  • Profile and social: your profile photo, follows, followers, and any reviews or discussion replies you post.
  • Device info: basic technical data (iOS version, app version, language) used to keep the app working and diagnose crashes.

How it is used

Your data is used solely to run the app — syncing your tracking across sessions, showing your profile to people you choose to share it with, powering the discussion threads, and improving the experience based on aggregate usage patterns. Episode does not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Third parties

  • TheTVDB provides show and episode metadata, search, and genre data. TheTVDB does not receive your personal data.
  • Trakt powers the Discover feeds (Trending, Popular, Most Anticipated, Watched This Week). Trakt does not receive your personal data.
  • OMDb supplies the IMDb ratings shown on show detail pages.
  • Streaming Availability (RapidAPI) powers the "Where to Watch" section, returning the streaming services a show is available on for your region.
  • GIPHY serves the GIFs you can attach to discussion replies. GIPHY receives your search query and standard request metadata when you search for a GIF.
  • Firebase (Google) handles authentication, data sync, push notifications, and storage. Your account and tracking data is stored in Firebase on Episode's behalf.
  • Crash reporting may collect anonymous technical details to help fix bugs.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, delete reviews and discussion posts, and request full account deletion at any time by emailing numan@getepisode.app. Account deletion removes your tracking data, profile, and posts.

Children

Episode is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

This policy may be updated as Episode evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
